What to Expect

Attendees

Job-seekers, graduates, apprentices and tradespeople alike will be at this wonderful event! The You’re Hired! Trade Skills Series provides the opportunity for attendees to develop their skills, receive job-related certifications, network with other industry professionals, and connect with potential employers. It also provides individuals with the chance to receive personalized assistance in our Career Support Clinic, led by our fantastic Career Services Team. As an exhibitor, you are not only showcasing your programs, services and training, but finding potential talent for your organization and helping these attendees become better prepared for the workforce.

Main Components of the You’re Hired! Trade Skills Series:

Career Pathways Exploration

Exhibitor booths will be located in the Career Pathways Exploration section. This area is a dedicated career-focused space that connects job seekers, students and apprentices with professionals and potential employers that are looking to recruit talent and promote programs, services and career opportunities in their field. Attendees will seek to engage with you in this space and learn more about your organization and what you offer.

Career Support Clinic

The Career Support Clinic is a dedicated space on-site that serves as an educational and professional resource for attendees. Managed by our expert Build a Dream Career Services Team, the clinic offers a range of services, including resume review, interview prep and discussions around career pathways and opportunities. Attendees can also get guidance on upskilling, job hunting, and tailored career support. This clinic compliments the You’re Hired! Trade Skills Series, providing valuable resources for individuals looking to become better prepared for the workforce.

Skilled Connections Meetup

Skills Connections provides a space for meaningful mentorship and networking between skilled trades professionals, apprentices, students and community members. It encourages attendees to make connections that can open doors to career growth, industry insights and new opportunities. There will be 3 timeslots for this networking segment, including 11:00-11:30am, 2:00pm-2:30pm and 6:30-7:30pm. Feel free to join this amazing meetup if you are interested – but please note that at least one representative from your organization should always be at your exhibitor booth.

Certifications

We are proud to be partnering with Worksite Safety to provide attendees with the opportunity to complete a variety of certifications on-site at the You’re Hired! Trade Skills Series event. These certifications include:

  • Ladder Safety

  • Confined Space Entry and Monitor

  • Fall Protection

  • Emergency First Aid

Talent Loop

What is Talent Loop?

Talent Loop is a platform that connects potential employers with job seekers by allowing employers to post job openings, review applicants’ profiles, and provide valuable feedback. In turn, job seekers can showcase their qualifications and receive important insights to improve their job readiness. Talent Loop creates a network and communication channel for all users, which allows for ongoing recruitment efforts beyond the event.

Registration Process

Registering for Talent Loop is easy, simply head to https://talentloop.ca/talentloop/register to begin the process. You will need to create an account and set up a company profile page as either a job-seeker or an employer. The account should be set up with a generic email or a hiring manager’s email address, whichever is easiest for you to access. All devices that you will be using at the You’re Hired! Trade Skills Series (laptop, tablet, cell phone, etc.) should be logged into the same company account that has been created.

Features

On your company profile, you can add key details such as your location, job openings, benefits, and awards, making it easy for job seekers to access important information and apply for current roles. Each job posting allows you to review applicants’ profiles, which include their bio, headshot, and resume. You will be able to assign them a 'Ready to Hire' score – Yes, No, or Maybe – and provide personalized feedback to help the candidate improve. If a candidate shows potential but doesn’t fit your current criteria for a role, you can add them to your "Roster" for future opportunities.

Attendees will receive instructions via email before the event to create their own profile on the Talent Loop website. Their profile will include a bio, headshot, resume, and a QR code that you can scan at the event. Even if your company isn’t actively hiring, you can scan these QR codes to view candidates' qualifications and offer valuable feedback both in person and through the site to help them prepare for future job opportunities.

Talent Loop can be used beyond the You're Hired! Trade Skills Series, as employers can post job openings at any time, and job seekers can always log in to search for new opportunities.

Load-Out Instructions

All materials can be brought out through Entrance 4 (or another location if you have pre-arranged an alternative entry/exit point). Please ensure that all your materials have been packed up and your load-out is complete by 10:00PM.
